Nicholas Chia holds an Associate Professor position within the Department of Surgery at Mayo Clinic with Joint appointments in Quantitative Health Sciences, Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, and Biomedical Engineering. He serves as the Director of the Beyond DNA Strategic Theme within the Center for Individualized Medicine and the Bernhard and Edith Waterman Endowed Co-Associate Director of the Microbiome Center where he leads the Theoretical, Engineering, and Data Section. Nicholas received his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in 2006, and from 2006-2011 was a postdoctoral fellow at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He has served as junior editor for several journals, including mSystems and Frontiers. Selected honours include the Humboldt Fellowship and Fredrick P. Li Impact Award (AACR).
